One way I give back to my local comunity is as a partner for the local anti-obesity initiative, Healthy Lombard. Last Fall, I ran what I called The Your Healthy Life Made Easy!™ Greater Lombard Area Weight Loss Transformation Contest, where I picked two extra deserving people to work with (a Winner and a Runner-Up), who received complimentary Deluxe Weight Loss Coaching Packages of 6 and 3 months, respectively with me.
I've had a great time working with these two special ladies, and just finished working with the Runner-Up, Cheryl Behrens, so I wanted to share Cheryl's Wellness Coaching Success Story. For more background on Cheryl, CLICK HERE
Cheryl's Wellness Coaching Success Story
Cheryl was such a joy to work with--always enthusiastic and excited about our time together.
And she ended up having a major surprise for me during her final coaching session. While Cheryl had come to enter the contest for weight loss reasons, when we got to talking, she really wanted to focus on getting more energy, organization and a regular, healthy eating pattern into her life, reducing stress, get more work-life balance and maintaining her ability to do all the activities that she wants to in life as she gets older. So we put the weight loss on the back burner and focused on what she wanted to work on as priorities.
By the end of our time together, Cheryl did achieve all that and more. She’s been feeling way less stressed, more positive as life’s challenges come her way, achieved greater work-life balance all on increased energy. Cheryl has learned to not try to take on too much at one time and scatter her focus, as well as to be creative in organization of her time and space so she feels more in control of her world–something we can all aspire to do.
One of the major achievements that Cheryl was particularly proud of was that as she put it "I learned to not think of myself as a failure if she didn't achieve everything I wanted, and with Coach Melanie helping me set smaller goals in our work together, and realizing I didn't have to be 100% all the time, I learned to be an achiever and not to see myself as a failure if I wasn't always (or ever for that matter), 100%."
Cheryl's taken new measures based on ideas we’ve brainstormed together to ensure she eats regularly and healthfully even if she doesn’t want to cook for herself. And when it’s not snowing too badly and doesn’t feel like Siberia out (or CHIberia as my husband has been calling it), she gets to the gym.
